Second Thursday of each month 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. – Altered Book Club

The Friends of the Library sponsor a monthly Altered Book Club.  The club is open to individuals interested in creating altered books, whether seasoned artists or beginners.   There are no dues or costs to join.  Just come to share ideas and techniques.  The Friends of the Library supply old books to take at each monthly meeting.  Meetings are held in the Library Community Room.

Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. – Stephen Darley Author Talk

North Haven author Stephen Darley will speak about his newly published book, Voices from a Wilderness Expedition.   Mr. Darley’s presentation, followed by a book signing and light refreshments, is free and open to the public.  For more information about the author, see his website at www.Darleybooks.com.   The North Haven Historical Society and the Friends of the North Haven Library are sponsoring this event.

Wednesday, February 29 at 7 – 8 p.m. – Sicilian Cucidati Cookies

This traditional Southern Italian cookie has a rich, fig dried fruit and chocolate filling encased in a buttery, lemon shortbread type pastry.  Chef Paula Biondino will teach us how to make this delightful cookie, sure to be an addition to your next cookie platter.  This program is free, but registration is required.  Please register starting February 1 at the Reference Desk.

Saturdays, March 3 – April 28 at 10:30 – 11:30 – Forrest Yoga with Neely Kelley

Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly.  Beginners to Forrest Yoga learn to breathe deeply and connect in feeling with their bodies during poses that are typically held for 5-10 breaths.  Neely Kelley discovered Forrest Yoga after being plagued by chronic low back pain.  During her first year, Forrest Yoga enabled her to heal her low back.  Her passion is to teach Forrest Yoga to others so they can experience this empowering and healing yoga.  Please bring a yoga mat.  Registration is required.  Please sign-up at the Reference Desk starting February 1.

Wednesday, April 25 at 7 – 8 p.m. – Invasive Plants

Certified Master Gardeners Richard Straub and Sylvia Ohlrich will present a talk on “Identifying and Managing Invasive Plants in Your Yard”.  Homeowners will learn why a plant is considered invasive, how to identify various common invasive plants, and learn ways to manage them before they take over. This program is free, but registration is required. Please register starting April 1 at the Reference Desk.
